Private Hershel Wright of the United States Army distributes oranges to survivors in the Wöbbelin concentration camp, 5 May 1945

Private Hershel Wright of the United States Army distributes oranges to survivors in the Wöbbelin concentration camp, 5 May 1945 When Allied forces arrived to liberate the Wöbbelin camp in northern Germany, they encountered scenes beyond anything they could have imagined: hundreds of corpses lay scattered throughout the camp, among them emaciated, gravely ill survivors. The liberated prisoners were quickly transferred to hospitals, but even after liberation, not all survived. Many succumbed to illness and exhaustion - others, tragically, to overeating after years of starvation. This photo captures one of the first moments following liberation: a small act of giving, offered to those who had been stripped of everything. When so many other Germans remained silent, the members of the White Rose risked their lives to speak out against the Nazi regime

When so many other Germans remained silent, the members of the White Rose risked their lives to speak out against the Nazi regime. Composed of mostly university students, including brother and sister Hans and Sophie Scholl and their friend, Christoph Probst, the White Rose wrote pleading messages and distributed them to thousands of Germans. They begged their fellow citizens to rise up against the Nazis and their persecution of Jews. “The Jews, too, are human beings,” they wrote. On February 22, 1943, the Scholls and Christoph were tried for the crime of treason, convicted, and beheaded in a matter of hours. While their voices went unheard then, today—more than 80 years later—the group serves as a symbol of righteous rebellion.  Photo: George J. A Catholic priest hears the confession of a death row inmate

A Catholic priest hears the confession of a death row inmate  Shoulda thought about the consequences before they did something so bad they had to be put away for life. Research on that topic has been consistent:  There is almost no murder deterrence affect from jail/death penalty.  In general, people do NOT think about penalties before committing murder. Murder is not a rational action and we shouldn't expect people who have done it to do it in a reasonable way. When looking at "crimes of passion" where a spouse kills their loved one in a moment of high emotions; the over whelming evidence says that they weren't "thinking" at all.  Their brain broke in that moment.  They usually had no real control over their own actions.  This happens to very normal people under high stress. Wehrmacht troops escort a female Soviet prisoner captured near Uman in Ukraine in the Summer of 1941

Wehrmacht troops escort a female Soviet prisoner captured near Uman in Ukraine in the Summer of 1941 There's no verifiable numbers that can be compared. The Red Army committed brutal rapes in Germany as the war began to end, no one's denying this, but to say the Germans raped way less than their Soviet counterparts isn't exactly true. Soviet soldiers raped anyone from young girls to old women in Germany and in other soon-to-be Soviet-controlled territories, but the Germans aren't exactly chaste. Sexual violence was frowned upon during the occupation of nations like Denmark and France, where rape was relatively scarce until the end of the war and when it did occur the chance of punishment was much greater. On the Eastern Front it was a different matter, because all the rules of war were abandoned (if I recall correctly, the USSR not having signed the Geneva Convention was the excuse that the Nazis used but I could be wrong); it was a race war more than anything, ext...

Budapest, near the Kilian Barracks, 1956 October They call for ''**dictatorship** of the proletariat'', with all the conclusions that come from it. In all the states that tried to install Communism or ''advanced Socialism'' or whatever you want to call them, no democracy and no other powers aside from Communist party were allowed to have any say in anything. In fact if you tried to disagree with the Communist party, you were branded a traitor or a enemy and attacked in all of them The funny thing is that in the initial phase of the rebellion, many members of the communist party in the USSR wanted to deal with it diplomatically and to resolve it peacefully. For example, Soviet Marshall Georgy Zhukov (who wanted to fully cooperate diplomatically and economically with the west after the war) ...

did mystique really have to walk home naked after she lost her powers in last stand

So did mystique really have to walk home naked after she lost her powers in last stand? Her feelings would be really really hurt at the moment and she would feel very vulnerable as a human looking like one but as he literally left her there I don’t think she would take too long into weaponizing this shame into looking like an innocent victim “could you please take me to civilization, oh a sweater? Thank you you are a kind soul 😇 “ Unless the feds arrived really, really fast she would be out of that place in 20 minutes tops and only if not much cars are passing by. Though she might contact the feds herself if there is some deals to be won. All the dirt and location of magneto resources in exchange of a blank slate and a promise of not doing any activities that could be considered criminal She would be charged. They know her identity despite her ability to shapeshifter including her fingerprints. She will not be off the hook like the last person said. They know who she is and power...

German agencies on a recent case with Gisele Pelicot, revealed a Telegram group with up to 70,000 members sharing methods of sexual assault. 70,000 members

German agencies on a recent case with Gisele Pelicot, revealed a Telegram group with up to 70,000 members sharing methods of sexual assault. 70,000 members. And these are just the people who know about it and are open to join it. If anyone is curious about the dark web but is too afraid to go there, Telegram is a good alternative. I was chatting with people in a Telegram group when some psychopath shared a link to another Telegram group. I clicked the link out of curiosity, and there was an endless feed of child porn videos shared by over 10,000 people. I was never exposed to child porn before and I almost vomited because of what I saw. The world is a dark and disgusting place when you look beneath the surface. Edit: I live in a 3rd world country. The police here can't do anything if it's something outside our country. Edit 2: Thank you everyone for letting me know that I can contact organizations outside my country regarding cases like these. I'll do my research and b...

Naked Jewish women from the Mizocz ghetto wait in a line before their execution by the German Order Police with the assistance of Ukrainian auxiliaries

Naked Jewish women from the Mizocz ghetto wait in a line before their execution by the German Order Police with the assistance of Ukrainian auxiliaries Locals played a very important role in the mass shootings committed by the Germans in the Baltics and the USSR. In some cases, locals would instigate their own pogroms against Jews once the Germans arrived. Otherwise, local citizens would help the Einsatzgruppen and other units locate Jews in the immediate vicinity and then either assist with or participate in the mass killings. One of the facts that I learned about the Holocaust from my grandfather that has stuck with me even up through today is that we’ll never know truly how many died or who they were. There were people that were murdered, and not only were they murdered, but EVERY SINGLE PERSON that knew them, EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HAD EVER known them, were also murdered.  Try to imagine that. Every last human being you’ve ever come in to contact with, murdered.  Tha...

The horrific execution of Clayton Lockett by lethal injection this spring in Oklahoma took an astonishing 43 minutes to complete

The horrific execution of Clayton Lockett by lethal injection this spring in Oklahoma took an astonishing 43 minutes to complete. Together with other botched killings, the incident has focused attention on the inexperience and incompetence that now accompanies many executions in America.  "After he died, an autopsy showed potentially toxic levels of the drug in his system, suggesting he also attempted an overdose before he was executed."   So he might have done this to himself with the drug reaction issue.  Who knows if it would have been this bad if he hadn't attempted to OD first.   But if you read about what he did to that girl, he deserved every second of that agony.  He buried a girl alive for shit's sake! Guillotines have moving parts and require mechanical maintenance and lubrication (plenty of failed beheading by guillotine in France when it was in vogue), they're also needlessly bloody when a bag of nitrogen accomplishes the same goal. Human intercourse with real people who donated their bodies to science and to make education interesting

Human intercourse with real people who donated their bodies to science and to make education interesting. (The picture was taken by me when I visited a very controversial German exhibition called "Körperwelten") All the bodies are donated and the people knew what they where getting into, but its still controversial After some actual research, I found out that there have been multiple controversies about some corpses and how they were obtained. And in the end they were sadly donated. I did a bit of research on this topic, and my takeaway is this: The exhibition uses Chinese bodies. van Hagen has also access to enough bodies through the donation program (according to their site, there are 17k registered donors in Germany). Van Hagen made a statement at some point about bodies that he destroyed because they had injuries that made him suspect that they are prisoners (eg. chinese ones) He later clarified that he was referring to bodies that he was preparing as contract work f...

The Execution of Irma Grese

The Execution of Irma Grese  Irma Grese, often referred to as the "Hyena of Auschwitz," remains one of the most infamous female figures associated with Nazi war crimes. Her name is synonymous with the brutality that characterized the Holocaust, and her execution marked the end of a young life steeped in unimaginable cruelty. Early Life and Rise to Power Born on October 7, 1923, in Wrechen, Germany, Irma Grese grew up in a tumultuous household. Her mother committed suicide when Grese was only 13 years old, an event that had a profound impact on her. At 15, she left school and initially worked as a nurse, but soon became captivated by Nazi ideology. By the age of 19, she had joined the SS and was assigned to work at the Ravensbrück concentration camp as a guard. Her rise within the ranks of the SS was swift and alarming. Grese was later transferred to Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the most notorious concentration camps, where she quickly gained a reputation for her extreme sa...

Real life 127 hours (without the penknife): Chinese woman gets stuck in tiny gap between rocks after curiosity got the better of her

A curious woman had to be rescued by a crew of firemen after she became stuck between two giant rocks - because she wanted to try and sneak through the tiny gap. The woman became wedged between the boulders after her bottom and breasts could not make it through the opening in the popular tourist city of Mudanjiang in Heilongjiang Province, northeast China. The frightening scenario had echoes of the film 127 hours, which is based on the ordeal of real-life canyoneer Aron Ralston, whose arm became trapped in a crevice in Blue John Canyon, Utah, in April 2003. + 8 View gallery She tried to squeeze through a small gap + 8 View gallery Firefighters had to use ropes to save her + 8 View gallery The woman became trapped between two boulders after her curiosity got the better of her and she tried to sneak through a thin gap The woman had to be rescued Woman had to be rescued The adventurer, who was played by James Franco in Danny Boyle's film adaptation, was deserted in the isolated s...

Executing The Beautiful Spectre.

Executing The Beautiful Spectre. Seen here are several former SS camp guards and overseers executed after the first Stutthof trial, in 1946. The Stutthof trials were a series of war crime tribunals held in Poland for the prosecution of former Stutthof concentration camp staff and officials. The Stutthof concentration camp was the first German concentration camp outside German borders in WWII, located near the village of Stutthof, Free City of Danzig(now Gdánsk, Poland). Stutthof was originally a civilian internment camp, but eventually expanded and became a vast network of forced-labor camps. It turned into a regular concentration camp in early 1942. A crematorium and gas chamber were added in 1943-44, to be used as a part of the final solution. Over 60 000 prisoners of Stutthof and its subcamps died as a result of executions, disease, starvation, brutal treatment, forced labour ,and death marches after forced evacuations. Soviet forces liberated Stutthof on May 9, 1945. One of th...

January 17th, 1920, Alcohol Prohibition started in the USA

January 17th, 1920, Alcohol Prohibition started in the USA. The roots of the temperance movement can be traced back to the 19th century, fuelled by concerns over the negative social and economic consequences of alcohol consumption. Religious groups and reformers argued that alcohol was responsible for a myriad of societal problems, including domestic violence, crime, and workplace inefficiency. The movement gained momentum in the decades leading up to the 20th century, culminating in the passage of the 18th Amendment in 1919. Rather than eradicating the consumption of alcohol, Prohibition gave rise to a flourishing black market. Organised crime syndicates, led by infamous figures like Al Capone, seized the opportunity to supply the demand for illegal alcohol. Speakeasies, hidden establishments where patrons could secretly enjoy alcoholic beverages, became popular across the nation, creating a vibrant underground culture. As the negative consequences of Prohibition became increasin...

How common were instances of sexual abuse in Nazi concentration camps

How common were instances of sexual abuse in Nazi concentration camps. The accounts that rap£ or prostitution was common, Were the guards were given "free reign" over the prisoners given view of them as subhuman The Nazis sort of developed a network of state-controlled brothels during the war. This included both the civilian and military brothels. The Nazis even set up brothels for the forced labor inmates that helped with the German war effort as incentives for higher production from prisoners in camps. Back then these brothels were suppose to serving several needs. For the soldiers that were far away from home, the Nazis thought that having these brothels would reduce the possibility of rape in occupied lands and reducing the sexual relations with impure local women or forced laborer's, as well. Heck, the Nazis tried to use these brothel women to cure homosexuality as a treatment with male prisoners that were gay. Regular German women were exempt from serving in these b...

The prisoners in concentration camps have sex with each other

The prisoners in concentration camps have sex with each other Steady on. Nearly all concentration camps were single-sex, and at those that held both men and women the sexes were usually kept separate, though at Auschwitz III (Monowitz) and possibly also some other sub-camps they worked together. At extermination camps (where the sexes were not separated) most of the prisoners were killed within 24 hours of arrival. Prisoners did not have privacy. Remember that at the time most people had a horror of same-sex relations, especially between men. However, some Kapos and even guards forced prisoners to have sex with them. In Night Elie Wiesel relates how he found his Kapo having sex with a female prisoner, and he (Wiesel) was given 25 lashes for finding them having sex.* In the Women’s Camp at least one guard forced another woman to have sex with her, and at many camps there was a piepel (camp bum boy). *He also describes the hanging of the piepel of a Blockältester ( ‘block senior’). ...
