I recall a time in America in which young men and women were allowed to be nude. I graduated high school in 1958. During that time nudity was not viewed as it is today. I attended a high school which allowed nude swimming. In those days boys had to be nude for gymnastics track or swimming. I recall they had to be nude for working out as well.
The American Public Health Association in 1926 created a mandatory law that people should swim nude for hygiene purposes. It was then legalized. Nudity was legalized! It was legal until 1962.Take a look at these pics of high school gym classes and public pools from the 1920's to the 1960's.

Nudity was okay.
Nudity it only truly became unacceptable in 1965. Before that it was perfectly acceptable.
You see in 1962 the Baby Boom ended, but also the American Public Health Association said “nudity is now illegal.” Around 1965 the porn industry kicked into high gear. Playboy, and Penthouse magazine made nudity the new irresistible sin.
Even in a lot of old black and white films there was nudity without sexual intention. Like people bathing in rivers was just normal.
It can sound crazy to us, but swimming naked was okay, but a swimsuit could be indecent.
(I was put a link from a video but im not sure if Quora would accept)
Along with the new law that nudity is illegal, came protests by college students. Nude protests. And you thought those protests were only for peace didn’t you?
Nope. Nudity was now illegal and people did not like it. So the hippie movement began.
After the hippie generation, tv evangelists began preaching about how sinful nudity is.
So the next generation fell back into a puritanical state complete with lies about the previous generation and how utterly boring life was in the 1940's and 1950's
The people who were born in the 1980's were brainwashed by the Public school system and the media to believe lies about the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's.
You know about how uptight people were in those days, and how people showered with clothes on. Yeah, those lies.
The media scrubbed away any all historic records pertaining to a time when nudity was LEGAL! Then in the mid 1980's a sexual prohibition began with tv evangelists preaching against nudity.
The porn industry however was making a fortune off of porn videos, and magazines and still is to this day.
All this while the kids of this generation are growing up to believe nudity has always been illegal and sinful.
You can get a look in the 70s and early 80s when they still put nudity as normal and even in pg films that children could see, female naked breasts was okay, even frontal nudity.
Films like
Fantasia
Wizards
Jaws
Airplane
Sixteen Candles
Beastmaster
Howard the Duck
Etc…
Yes, you dindnt read wrong the classic Fantasia from Walt Disney had naked female breasts and nobody saw any problem until the 90s.
