Mr Nguyễn Văn Trỗi Execution

Mr Nguyễn Văn Trỗi (or Nguyen Van Troi , whichever to your liking).

Held up as a national hero by the Vietnamese Communist Party , Vietnamese peoples and the youth themselves , He was known to be first publicly executed member of the Viet Minh.

As a patriot and a revolutionary , his only wishes is to end the U.S occupation by any mean and to defeat the American themselves by striking them by whichever means possible , he saw his opportunity upon hearing Robert McNamara and Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. visit to South Vietnam in May 1963(this was not elaborated in the U.S Wikipedia so I’ll use the Vietnamese Wiki) , in the day of 2/5/1964 , he volunteered for the mission of planting a bomb under the Bridge of Cong Ly to eliminate the convoy and kill the U.S high-rank generals , but things got messed up and he was arrested in 9/5/1964 to be executed.

His execution was filmed , and as all Revolutionaries would , he remained defiant to the end of his life , before the execution , this is what he told the Journalist:"You are journalists and so you must be well informed about what is happening , It is the Americans who have committed aggression on our country , it is they who have been killing our people with planes and bombs , I have never acted against the will of my people , It is against the Americans that I have taken action." , when a priest offered him absolution , he refused , saying that: "I have committed no sin. It is the Americans who have sinned."

And later , before his executions and the firing of the first shot , he chanted “Hãy nhớ lấy lời tôi! Đả đảo đế quốc Mỹ! Đả đảo Nguyễn Khánh! Hồ Chí Minh muôn năm! Việt Nam muôn năm!” , roughly translated to “Remember my words , overthrow the American Imperialist , overthrow Nguyen Khanh , Long Live Ho Chi Minh , Long Live Vietnam”.
