What was supposed to be a private moment ended up being on the cover of gossip magazines for months.
They broke up in 1998, shortly after these pictures were taken, but in an interview with Rolling Stone Matt confirmed it had nothing to do with the pictures, which was what many thought had caused the relationship to collapse:
Look, I loved her and we were very close, but it just ran its course. We’re both actors, she was living in L.A., and I was living in New York, and I didn’t want to commit to moving out there. But I don’t want to say it was about any of those things. It just ran its course.
